LIFTED

In 2007, MensWork initiated a new project that we now call LIFTED – the Louisville InterFaith Taskforce to Eliminate Domestic Violence. LIFTED has 2 main purposes:  to increase the ability of the faith community to respond to and prevent domestic violence, and to increase the ability of the service community to respond to issues of spiritualty.

LIFTED is organizing An Interfaith Service honoring those affected by domestic violence (as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month).

LIFTED is also developing an “introduction to domestic violence” packet for faith communities. This packet will be released in October of 2008 (as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month) and will be sued to educate and organize members of the faith community to better respond to domestic violence.

In addition to LIFTED, MensWork sees the men of faith communities as a valuable partner in working to respond to and prevent domestic and sexual violence. MensWork will be launching a project to partner and work with men of faith, within their men’s ministries.
