Engaging Dads

Engaging Dads is our newest project.  Our intention is to educate and engage fathers of adolescents in order to promote healthy and respectful flirting and dating.  Dad’s have a unique and potentially powerful relationship with our sons and daughters.  We can have an enormous influence in helping our daughters be women of strength, and our sons to be the kind of men we’d want our daughters to date.

The Engaging Dads Project begins with a dad’s pledge (which we ask all fathers and father figures, regardless of how old the children in our lives are) to sign; an annual event around Father’s Day when we organize an opportunity for dad’s to speak out against domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual assault.

We are developing programming that will educate dads about how to support their sons and daughters to flirt and date with respect; help develop the skills of dads in order to take leadership in our community, and organize these dads to advocate for needed legislative and other policy changes.  We’re in the process of creating a Engaging Dads Advisory group who will advise and support our efforts.
